ARENA DI VERONA
After 6 years in Sweden, Daniela was still looking for something new.
She returned to Italy, where again she met Giuseppe Carbone, at that time director of the corps de ballet at the Arena di Verona. His project was to create an international high-level company.
Along with her life-long dance-partner Carlos Iturrioz, Daniela went to the official audition, where they presented Cullberg’s version of Romeo and Juliet and Kitri Variation from Don Quixote.
Both of them were accepted.
Promptly appointed “Prima Ballerina”, she dancesd in pieces choregraphed by:
-
Susanna Egri, for whom she danced “The Slave” in the opera Aida
-
Giuseppe Carbone, in Dialogues, The Firebird, Four Seasons and his adaptation of Giselle, in which Carla Fracci danced the title role
-
Mario Pistoni, in Wonderful Mandarin and the pas-de-deux Ephimeros, where she was partenered by Iturrioz
-
Giuseppe Urbani, in Italian Symphony
Daniela danced again with Carla Fracci in a piece called The Two Twins, choreographed by Loris Gai and directed by Beppe Menegatti.
When Mats Ek and Jiří Kylián were guest choreographers at the Arena, she danced respectively in Down in the North and Symphony in C.
Later on Daniela would dance in Kylián’s pas-de-deux Nuages, for a guest appearance in 1999 at San Michele a Ripa in Rome.
